Oh sister!

Lady

We had a day out hiking and no signal so it was only when I got back that I saw that there was a new post and well what a turn of events.

You did exactly the right thing and I am so very grateful to you. I picked her up myself from the airport so got her first hand account of the terrible business. And she is absolutely terrified without mistake and with no hint of fabrication.

And the Dashing Major has your flight details so will be at the airport to collect you and Pops tomorrow evening. I know this is a nasty business but I am still very excited at the prospect of meeting your father.

Luscious Lydia had thought at first that it may be best to keep it from the parents so as to not worry them but I counselled against that and for once she actually listened to me. So we sat them down and she explained everything to them and I tried to reassure them that you and the Dashing Major were going to do everything you could to see if this mess could be sorted out.

Mother-dearest asked if the ring was perhaps some treasured antique of a much-loved relative for it to be causing so much trouble but Luscious Lydia was certain that it was purchased new for her. In fact I think I believed her when she said that had it been an heirloom she would have returned it without question. So it seems all the more curious, if that's the right word, that the spurned fiancée has waited until now to seek its return. Surely the various sanctions and things can't have hit him so hard that he was having to call in the return of jewellery for goodness sakes. Then Luscious Lydia told me how much it was worth and quite frankly that is an obscene amount of money, in my view, to wear on your finger but still ... worth causing all this fuss for?

Anyway we have decided that it is safest for Luscious Lydia to stay at my house rather than the parents. Whilst the camera doorbells are great they don't compare to the set up that I now have at the house and the skills of the occupants. I was rather concerned about how that might work out but she really is on best behaviour and hasn't been one iota of trouble. She even apologised to the Dashing Major for her behaviour at Gretel's party but he was quick, and quite blunt for him, to say that it was to me that she should be apologising.

But the leopard still retains a few spots and has been very charming with the A-lister. As a single man that isn't a problem at all and goodness knows he has been forewarned but they do seem to be rubbing along nicely. Oh that sounds bad. I have no knowledge of any actual rubbing along and as I'm sure you know I mean it in the context of them getting on. Oh there I go again. You'll be here soon so you can make your own mind up. The Dashing Major pointed out that the A-lister has had years of experience of women like Luscious Lydia so I shouldn't be concerned. He also pointed out that there was very little in the media about his personal life and that was a measure of how careful he was in the selection of romantic partners and how well he treated them. I like the man so I do hope she doesn't hurt him but he is an adult and not my child and I am just keeping out of it all.

And it is better that she is focusing on the A-lister rather than Piotr the Protective who was rather bowled over by her at first. He has of course been included in the discussions about the business and interestingly is of the same view as you and the Dashing Major; that we are unlikely to be visited in person. In his view there are far more Russians living in New York state that can be called upon for a favour than in North Yorkshire and as this seems to him to be more about intimidation unlikely to be worth tracking her down and sending someone out.

And the Dashing Major has taken to texting his name, rank and serial number back on any of the text messages that she has received, and as you both predicted, they seem to have stopped. For now at least.

Anyway the A-lister is going to move in with Piotr for the duration of your visit which thankfully coincides with a break in the shooting of the film. He was going to head home but decided that it is far more fun here and so is staying. He has actually said that he isn't looking forward to the studio shooting because it means heading down to London and away from us which is rather touching. I did point out that next month we will be heading South too to get ready for, and then host, this party so that cheered him up a little.

But my chief concern is that they will be gaming all night and that will impact on Piotr's ability to get up for work the next morning. Anyway I know that I shouldn't mother them but I did have a quiet word with Piotr and he is due some leave so has taken a week off. It also means that he can hang around with us and get involved in some of the treats we have planned for your visit.

So all that is good. Oh and we've had a lovely bunch of flowers from Auntie Doris and Uncle Henry thanking us for all our help. They are heading off on some cruise or other for a second honeymoon.

So all good at the moment and I really can't wait for you to arrive. Safe journey, Pirate and I really will see you soon.
