5,422 miles ... roughly

Lady

That's how far away you both are.

And the Dashing Major has been sending regular updates and video calling. It does look very hot there. It's raining here. Again.

The storage locker sounds rather mysterious. What do you suppose you might find in there? It could be fiendish clues and maps to the family's long lost treasure. A few skeletons. Or a pile of old furniture and suitcases of old clothes. I'm hoping for the former.

If it is can I come on the treasure hunt with you? I'm rather good with clues and puzzles and the like. I think I might be less useful if it comes to skeletons but I've never met one so who knows.

And Gretel has set me quite a conundrum with the present. I've been wracking my brains as to what an American might want that they would consider to be 'very English'. I have a few ideas but nothing that is really jumping out as the present. I have a little time so I'm not panicking just yet. I'm guessing she didn't express a desire for the tea-bags and umbrella though?

Workwise it's all been good and I managed to get the interview done with the A-lister. He's given me plenty that I can use for you all. I do need to know whether you are going to want to do a video interview that is likely to go out onto the web though so that I can divide his comments between the team members who are.

On the subject of the A-lister we've been storming through one particular online game and put together a fairly efficient squad with some of his and Techy Trevor's friends online. The open mic format was, for once, quite gratifying with various wailings and bemoaning from some of the other players but an awful lot of humour too. I have to admit to being rather mean with one particular whiny person who got on everyone's nerves so I'm afraid I targeted him more than perhaps was necessary. He was rather rude though and made several, incorrect, disparaging remarks about me so I'm afraid he got what he deserved in my view. Eventually he logged off and the banter after that was all good natured rivalry.

So the Dashing Major now has a console installed and a decent sound bar. I wonder if he'll mind me updating his TV and add a sound system. I must ask him. And it filled an evening after the video call with him so all good. It also looks as if I might have acquired a few new online friends, including the A-lister and Techy Trevor of course, and it seems there is a fair amount of shared interest in various other online games.

And a cat for company. Houdini decided to make an appearance so I'm afraid I let him sleep on the bottom of the bed.

My update is that the builders are ready to start on some of the work. The windows have been delivered but not the doors yet. And they have the necessary bits and pieces to start on the roof which is good. So it looks as if my darling sister's departure is very timely as I want to be there when they start work.

With that in mind I spent yesterday refining some of the 'yet to be launched' content and then with Wonderful Will going over some modifications to the already launched content. There was a unanimous view from everyone currently at the facility that they want the room off reception to be a flexible staff breakout-cum-VIP lounge. So Wonderful Will and I spent some time going over the options in terms of layout and furniture and set up. Because of various bookings and things we've fixed on a window for the revamp. He's going to arrange for the clearing of the room and get the decorators in. Sultry Suki is on with the ordering of the furnishings and 'catering' fixtures (for want of a better word) and I've been on the phone for what felt like the whole afternoon with various suppliers to get everything I need for the tech setup.

And I've been added to the team diary system so we've got dates booked in for me coming back down to start setting up the systems with Techy Trevor. Which didn't feel nearly as odd as I think it would have done this time last week.

The Dashing Major gave me his blessing to take the car if I wanted to drive back home but that would only leave him with his (rather impressive) Ducati and with the weather as it is I didn't want to think of him racing around on wet roads on that. So Serene Kate is picking me up shortly and dropping me off at the station for my train North. Father-dearest is going to pick me up at the other end and then fill me in on all things house related. And no doubt a lot that isn't.

And with the Dashing Major's blessing, I have had a spare key done and dropped it in with Dapper Dave and Homely Harry (with the alarm code) just in case Houdini decides to come looking for me. Although quite frankly if he can get in I'm sure he can get out again. But just in case.

Which might seem odd given that the Dashing Major will be on his way back in a day or so but if this is going to work, at some stage, I guess we'll be shuttling between each other's places.

Right. That's the buzzer. Back North I go.
